I am currently working as a Senior Product Designer at WePay which was a startup and got acquired by JP Morgan Chase in 2017. WePay provides integrated payment solutions for ISV partners. ISV stands for “independent software vendor”. They are software or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) builders to address different business needs. ISV partners utilize WePay’s API to process payments.

What WePay does.

Empowering SMB SaaS, POS Systems, and Online Marketplaces with integrated payment solution.

Nowadays, internet is processing billions of dollars each day. Whether it’s ecommerce or SaaS platforms you might encounter in a daily basic, most of them are using integrated payment service to help them process payments so that they can skip the hassles of payment process and dealing with building payment infrastructure from scratch . And WePay is living within this niche. WePay provides payment service for independent software vendors (ISVs) to ensure small businesses get paid quickly and easily.

In WePay’s world, two important characters we are supporting are “Partners” and “Merchants”.

Partners are ISV/SaaS platforms that provide service in different verticals. They utilize WePay’s API to process payments. Under Partners there are Merchants who are using the services provided by Partners and making transactions on the Partners’ platforms.

While WePay is provided Payment APIs to make transactions happen between Partners and Merchants, it also provides dashboard tools for both parties to track their business performance, get reports and set up account preferences.

What I am working on.

I am supported WePay for its Partner Center and Merchant Center.

On the product side, I am supporting WePay on its Partner Center. It is where ISV partners come to set up their API and track their business performance. Because our product team at WePay is very small, I get to work very closely with the team to conduct end-to-end design. I am involved in a wide range of projects, from creating design systems and setting up navigation foundations to designing projects for onboarding, SLA reports, legal forms for compliance, iframe for payment methods, etc.

On the other side, WePay is also supporting Chase on building a merchant center where merchant account users come in to track their business activities. I have been involved on projects such as creating pricing plans, redesigning their get started guides, designing their POS terminal rental features for Canada, and etc.
