Aiddy
Product Design
Aiddy is my capstone project that my group and I decided to redesign a new generation First Aid Kit.
Aiddy is a shared first aid kit that is always there for you when emergencies occur. It can quickly help you deal with daily injuries in the most simple and intuitive way.

Problem Space
It is frustrating to look for appropriate tools when people are injured in a public place. People have difficulty locating and using items in first aid kit. The inefficiency while using first aid kit can cause delayed medical care and a waste of first aid resources.
Research and Insights
We conducted both primary and secondary research to look for the come current issues about first aid kits. And here are some of our insights:
- People lack first aid knowledge, but they are expected to know more.
- The process of finding specific tool in the kit is always problematic.
- The arrangement of the first aid kit does have an effect on how people use it.
Design Goals
We aimed at designing a next generation first aid kit that can achieve our goals:
- Improve the first aid kit user experience
- Efficient arrangement that allows people to find what they need in a short time
- Clear instructions for different tools and treatments
- Educate people on first aid knowledge
Meet Aiddy
Aiddy is a future first aid kit designed for public areas such as dorm environment. It is your first aid helper that is always there for you when emergencies occur. It can quickly teach you to deal with daily injuries in the most simple and intuitive way.
Arrangement and Package
Individual package design maintains hygienic condition of items, and allows people to easily obtain what they need. All the items are stored in fixed locations, which prevents items from being disorganized. In addition, the items are arranged by their categories with color coding.
Instruction Interface
Allows users to find the right treatment for specific injuries shortly. Provides clear instructions for different tools and treatments. For severe injuries and emergencies, Aiddy can also connect users to 911 or school clinics.
For each kind of injury, users can specify the body part that is injured in order to receive advice for the most appropriate treatment items. In the instruction text, item names are highlighted in color corresponded to item area beneath.
The interface also helps users to locate treatment items.
Aiddy App
Besides the physical first aid kit, Aiddy also has an app for people who want to learn more about first aid. The Aiddy app gives expert advice and information for daily emergencies in user’s hand. With animations, interactive quizzes and simply step by step advice. It’s never been easier to know small tips of first aid.
